In an official statement posted in a forum today, Pete Lau CEO of OnePlus announced its “New Journey for OnePlus” saying that in collaboration with Oppo, they are both bringing together their teams under one umbrella. However, this scenario was technically emphasized when the two smartphone company merged hardware R&D teams.
Both company have long since been experiencing positive results which which Mr. Lau said in continuation to his statement that the “remainder” of the OnePlus organization will be integrated with Oppo.
There aren’t much to change in this union as OnePlus brand and channels will stay the same as they have always been, though activities done behind the look of the public will be both company’s coming and working together in harmony.
We’re at a transcending point in our future at OnePlus. As we’ve begun expanding our product portfolio, we’re able to present more choices to you than ever before.
Last year I took on some added multi functional affairs to oversee our product strategy for both OnePlus and OPPO and ever since then, we have combined quite a number of our technical teams together with OPPO’s to better FastTrack our operations and capitalize on additional shared resources which resulted to great positive development hence we’ve decided to further combine our organization with OPPO.
OnePlus and Oppo for years have been clearly working together to better their resources though as separate groups but, Last year, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau took upon himself a much larger role that involves taking care of both OnePlus and Oppo and increased in the company resources and stable software function which further pushes both company’s to unify their company to better enhance their stand in the technical stock market.
In his statement, Pete Lau claims that this merger will bring “faster and more stable software updates” for OnePlus devices. That’s a great goal to see, noting the way things have been for OnePlus in software aspect over the past years.
Mr. Lau ended the post publication by saying OnePlus will continue rolling out its products, hosting its own events, and “engaging” with the public. While directly speaking to the company’s fans, he stated that the company’s community base is a “vital” part of OnePlus and it’s “important” to share updates like these directly and as soon as possible.
