Which phones are compatible with the installation of Andriod 12 beta?
During the Google IO 2021 presentation, it was said that the Android 12 beta would be available today on most Pixels. We also know that Oppo, Asus, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, Tecno, Sharp, Vivo, TCL, and ZTE will add the beta to some of their phones soon. - Oppo Find X3 Pro
- Nokia X20
- OnePlus 9 / 9 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 11 / 11 Ultra
- Xiaomi Mi 11i*/ 11X Pro
- ZTE Axon 30 Ultra (China-only models)
- TCL 20 Pro 5G
- Asus Zenfone 8
- Realme GT
- iQOO 7 Legend
These phones are actually running a developer preview of Android 12, intended for developers to test out the new operating system.
Pixels from the Pixel 3 to the Pixel 5 should be able to download the Beta. Phones like the Pixel 2 Wouldn’t have access, but you can check for yourself on the Beta page.
Steps On Downloading The Android 12 Beta Version On Google Pixel Phones
In order to do this, you would need to go to the Android Program Beta website, where you will log into your Google account. Once you are logged in, click Devices then scroll down to any Eligible devices associated with your Gmail.
You should Opt In under the phone you want to register for the beta. Remember to Read the disclaimer carefully.
It would inform you that once you install the Beta, you will not be able to Un-enroll and revert back to a lower release version of Android without wiping all saved data on your device. You MAY also encounter issues while restoring a backup.
That being said, you shouldn’t sign up for the Beta version unless you:
- Have a Backup of your files Saved.
- You are Prepared to use Android 12 and deal with any bug issues until the final Version is launched Officially.
If you have those two (2) requirements, Click ‘Select’ and ‘enroll’. You would have to wait until your phone receives the Update. At that point, you should receive a notification stating that it is ready to INSTALL, but you can also check manually in Settings by going to:
> System then click > Advanced > and Enter >System Updates.
Once the download is ready, start the installation. We would also recommend plugging in your phone or have a fully charged battery, so it doesn’t go off while downloading. Once the software has been Updated, your phone will restart automatically. Congrats, you now have access to the Android 12 beta!
How To Download the Beta on other Android phones
Ensure to back up your data in case you need to reset the entire device.
For Users of OnePlus phones, head to OnePlus website where you can download the beta. Note this., once you install the Beta, Some few functions like Fingerprint and Face Unlocking, video calling won’t work , always ensure to check out all the issues at OnePlus‘ forum before download.
If you have a Xiaomi phone, the Xiaomi’s website has links to the beta you need to install. That same link has a lists of various functions that might stop working for the preview, such as emergency calls may not work when the screen is locked.
The Oppo Find X3 Pro beta is only working in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and Taiwan right now, and you need to download a different built depending on your country. A list of risks is there too which includes Face Unlocking and Fingerprint not Working.
