Facebook is inviting interested community leaders from all part of Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya to apply for the 2021 Facebook Community Accelerator Program—The program meant to offer all its participants training, mentorship as well as a $50,000 USD investment fund to invest in an initiative that extends their community’s positive impact.
The Tech giant aims to help Afica’s Community leaders through the Accelerator program to harness the power of their community and turn their ideas into action. Selected leaders are expected to spend five months learning from experts, coaches and a customized curriculum so they can strengthen their community.
Lessons to be rendered will include community identity foundations, leading action-oriented programmes and sustainability. All Participants will also be graced with early access to Facebook’s new products channeled at helping communities better manage and activate their members.
Program Plan an Initiative
The participants will identify an important aspect that will develop a positive impact on the broader world and further create a plan to assemble their community around their goal. Their Initiatives will be shared amongst potential partners, investors and mentors who will analyze the innovative mindset for the chance to be awarded funding and receive public recognition.
Participants will have to spend three months executing their initiatives, in addition they will also collaborate with advocates and leaders in the community space and work with the Facebook team to bring their ideas to life.

How To Apply As A Participant
The program is open to communities that have a stand presence in Facebook Groups and leaders who are 18 years and above. Communities must have existed for over one year and must have a minimum size of 1,000 members. Applications started rolling out starting May 4 – 31, 2021.
