Telegram’s New Features Makes It better Than WhatsApp and Clubhouse

Telegram, the WhatsApp rival and instant messaging application has recently published new update features to beta the app and increase its uniqueness. The platform is one of the world’s top 10 most downloaded apps with over 500 million active users.

Some of the features which was added to the instant messageing application include shopping features for buyers and sellers, updated voice chat tools for groups, new gesture controls on mobile, and many others.

Telegram’s Payment Feature for Merchants

The Payments 2.0 is basically a happy note for merchants who normally use the Telegram platform for business as it allows merchants to receive payments made using credit cards while users can securely pay for goods and services without leaving the app.

The new payment tools can be used in any chat, and there’s a new tipping option during checkout so buyers can add extra gratuity to their orders.

The Instant Messaging app has integrated third-party payment providers like Stripe, Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc., for merchants to accept credit card payments on the app. According to Telegram, the company says they will take no commission from its users who use the Payment 2.0 as well.

Telegram’s Scheduled Voice Chats

Audio chats is the new trending dialogue for messaging apps starting with clubhouse, which facebook later followed suit and now Telegram has also decided to join the train by launching its own version of Clubhouse-like audio chats. The feature lets Telegram group admins host and also schedule live chats that all group members can listen to. This can be done from Admins Group or Channel’s profile page.

To Schedule a voice chat simply follow the guide below :

For iOS Users

  1. Open your Group or Channel’s page.
  2. Tap “Voice Chat.”
  3. Select “Schedule Voice Chat.”
  4. Use the dials to set the voice chat’s air time, then press “Schedule voice chat” to save your selection.

On Android

  1. Go to your or Channel or Group’s page.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu button.
  3. Select “Start Voice chat” then “Schedule Voice Chat.”
  4. Use the menu to select the date and time for the chat to begin.
  5. Tap “Schedule voice chat” to save.

Large countdown timers for any upcoming voice chats are displayed at the top of a group page or channel. Group members can tap the timer then toggle “set reminder” to be notified when the broadcast goes live.

Mini Profiles for Voice Chats

With Telegram mini–voice chats, you can now expand profile pictures and bios to get a better idea of who you’re chatting with – without leaving the voice chat window.
In addition, you can as well decide to change your profile picture and edit your bio without leaving the chat.

New Web Versions

Telegram added two new fully-Optimized web apps (Telegram web K and web Z) – both comes with support for animated stickers, dark mode, chat folders, and more. Thus, with the new web versions, users can get instant access to chats on any device – desktop or mobile.

Like other Telegram apps, the web versions are standalone: such that once logged in, it doesn’t require you keep your phone on and near by to stay active unlike the WhatsApp messenger. You can test-run the new web apps to see the one best suited for you.

Pinch to Zoom Feature

Photos and videos can now be expanded directly from the chat – simply pinch to zoom-in right away, without tapping to open the media viewer.

Improved Video Player

When watching a video from the media player on iOS, press and hold the + or – 15s buttons to fast-forward and rewind. On Android, press and hold on the right or left section of the screen to do the same, and double-tap to jump 10 seconds in either direction.

New Android Animations

There is a new dynamic animations when opening the side menu or swiping back to the chat list from a chat.
